ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION:
Select a vertebrate animal of interest and conduct literature research in reference to organismal
habitat/lifestyle for the purpose of identifying one (1) specific adaptation critical to survival. Students should
then focus their literature research on the physiologic mechanism of this adaptation at the cellular and/or
tissue levels of organization. Literature describing the integration of this adaptation into organismal structure,
function, and behavior should also be considered. A comprehensive review summarizing the findings of your
literature research should then be composed in the form of a seven (7) page (minimum) research paper. Your
research paper should include all sections listed in the table below.
