The assignment is in two parts. The first part looks at the world and purpose of coaching and/or mentoring for an individual and the second part relates to your own experience as a coach/mentor. Both parts are expected to have an academic underpinning.
Part 1:
With a firm underpinning of academic literature to support your arguments, critically discuss the value of coaching and/or mentoring to the individual. It is expected that this section will start with a brief discussion about the definition and meaning of coaching and/or mentoring. (2,500 words)
Part 2:
Provide a 30 minute video/audio recording of your own practice as a coach/mentor, with accompanying written reflection on your own development as a coach/mentor using examples from this and other moments of your own practice. The reflection should be underpinned with a range of literature including that around coaching skills development and techniques. (2,500 words + recording)
I will need 2700 word script of questions + answers for the recording.

About Me for the reflection: I am from Sydney, Australia.
My background has been in teaching children and adults, but I moved to the child protection and social work sector 7 years ago. I am currently employed in a not-for-profit NGO organisation in safeguarding and quality. Safeguarding protects the health, well-being, welfare and human rights of children and vulnerable adults in my organisation – particularly those at risk of abuse, neglect or exploitation.
I have no formal training in coaching and mentoring. As a teacher, I draw on my experience and knowledge to guide, advise and support my students. In safeguarding, I spend time helping vulnerable persons identify limiting beliefs about themselves and challenging assumptions that may be preventing them from achieving their goals.
A big part of my job is conducting investigations, which is very structured, direct & formal so I needed to learn to be more relaxed, indirect and less formal in my questioning technique.
I want to gain formal knowledge of coaching and mentoring as I believe that people who have undergone coaching will also make excellent mentors to other individuals in my organisation.
