Procedure: 1) Identify four individuals who made scientific discoveries which lead to the development of the field of nutrition science. These can include discoveries in anatomy and physiology, chemistry, microbiology, food preservation, or other pertinent scientific fields 2) Utilize online and academic journals to gather information regarding the individual. Web of Science and Google Scholar available through ASU libraries are good sources of journal articles. 3) Develop four trading cards (similar to baseball card format) a. Basic biographical information i. Name of individual ii. Years of birth/death (must have died prior to 1880 CE) iii. Nat‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍ionality/place of birth iv. Country/place where most of work was completed v. Academic training b. Area of research i. Discuss the scientific findings of the scientist ii. Identify other discoveries/inventions by these individuals, if any. iii. Published works c. Other information i. Identify any individuals who were mentored/influenced by this figure. ii. Quotation or other interesting note 4) On a separate paper, cite all references using APA citation style with all website and journal references used. There must be at least three different academic references used, you may use Wikipedia or another online encyclopedia to access basic background information, however, all information obtained from these sites must be verified by another source.
