It has been more 100 years since the 1918 flu pandemic that killed an estimated 20-50 million people worldwide and approximately 670,000 Americans. It is thought the deadly influenza virus was generated and first infected people in the U.S.; it likely was a virus which originally infected animals, but mutated in such a way to allow human infection and transmission from human to human.
For this assignment, please watch the film on the 1918 influenza pandemic “Influenza 1918.”
