Overview: 2 pages (550 words)
At least 1 SCHOLARLY sources from peer-reviewed journal. (Any listed sources
can be used.)
APA7. (Any of the listed sources can be used.)
· Write a 2 page memorandum
to advise Vila Health’s board of directors on the importance of selecting a
diverse panelist for filling vacancies and make recommendations in the provided
scenario.
· For this assessment, you
will make recommendations for a professionally varied and diverse selection
panel to fill vacancies on Vila Health’s board of directors and analyze how these
best practices apply to staffing in the HRM health care challenge.
· Introduction
o Vila
Health is a progressive organization that has made great strides toward
diversity and inclusion. The organization is now looking deeper into the best
approaches for talent utilization. Like many other health care organizations,
it is still challenged in providing senior leadership opportunities to ALL
members of the organization. While many women and people of color populate the
fields of nursing and allied health care roles, they have only recently been
represented in the community of highly experienced licensed physicians such as
medical doctors (MDs) or doctors of allopathic and osteopathic medicine (DOs).
o Many
medical organizations have a broad spectrum of managerial and executive
positions that have been historically held by and reserved for MDs or DOs. This
tradition, while well-intentioned, is a vestige of the past and created at a
time when other nursing and allied health professions had not fully achieved a
comprehensive state of professionalization. Today, virtually all fields that
operate within the general community of health care delivery are represented by
a nationally recognized association and, in many instances, require state
accreditation.
· HRM Health Care Challenge
o Vila
Health has a group of senior leadership roles reporting to the president and
board of directors that includes: director and deputy directors in patient
care, hospital administration, diagnostic services, and general services.
Throughout the history of Vila Health, seasoned physicians, in a few cases near
retirement, have filled all of these roles. The board of directors now seeks to
fill two vacancies with roles in nursing and allied health care leaders.
o Your
role is to assist in the interview panelist selection which is to include four
panelists and the president of the hospital, Lana White, esquire, 56.
Consideration in panelist selection should be given to women, people of color,
LGBTQ membership, and disabled professionals as well as professional
qualifications and background. The intent is to compose a panel that will support
the potential for the first-ever non-physician to be selected for one or both
of the vacant positions. It will be made clear that selecting non-physicians,
women, people of color and LGBTQ interviewees are acceptable choices.
o The
panelist list includes the following to choose four from:
1. Joaquin Rodrigues, 47,
Doctor of Nursing Practice, Latino, senior manager of nursing staff.
2. Alley Wagner, 61, Doctor
of Allopathic Medicine (MD), Caucasian, senior physician diabetes clinic. 3. Margret Hooks, 37, Nurse (RN),
African American, Emergency Department nursing supervisor. 4. Mark Crossman, 45, Doctor
of allopathic medicine (MD), Caucasian, LGBTQ, attending physician, Medical
Surgery Services.
5. Daryl Sharman, 43, Doctor
of Pharmacy, senior manager of the hospital pharmacy services, Native American.
6. Butch Moser, 33, Doctor
of Physical Theory (DPT), Caucasian, senior physical therapist, and member of
Physical Therapy services. 7. Danny Valentine, 72,
Doctor of allopathic medicine, (MD), Caucasian, Chief of Internal Medicine,
disabled. · Instructions
o To
ensure consideration for the vacancies is given by a balanced panel whose
members will be aware of and sensitive to the challenges associated with
organizational advancement, prepare a memorandum to advise the board of
directors. Using course resources and your own research, include the following
in your memorandum:
1. Articulate the rationale
for selecting a professionally varied and diverse panel.

the selection process in this scenario.

the background reasons for your selection recommendations.
