Part 3: Zoo Website Research
For this project you are to choose one zoological institution to research. Your facility must be accredited by the AZA – Association of Zoos and Aquarium. Go to www.aza.org and click on member institutions. Choose a state and look up some zoos. You must find a zoo that displays the animal you researched in Part 2. This means you may need to look at a couple of zoos to find one that has your species. (Hint: Google “zoos that display insert your animal species here” and then look on the websites to find one that is AZA accredited.
The purpose of this assignment is to become familiar with zoo websites, and the type of information you can find on them. Look at the website and click on the tabs and note the kind of information the zoo provides – for this assignment I want general information with maybe a couple of examples not every bit of information listed on the website. (For example, one education program offered not all of the programs they offer, the types of animals in the collection not a list of every species).
