1. Choose one artwork. This work can be in any visual medium and from any time period (Piet Mondrian and it’s called Composition with Large Red Plane, Yellow, Black, Gray, and Blue (1921)
2. Choose one theory (FORMALISM) from which to pose your thesis statement/question. You may refer to other theories as well throughout your paper, but keep the focus of your paper on one to remain concise and clear to your reader.
Make at least one reference to this theory from your text. Make sure to cite this in your paper using parenthetical citations, ex: (D’Alleva, 96). Even if you paraphrase, you must ALWAYS cite a source of an original thought that is not yours.
