Description
This exercise is an asynchronous group exercise that will help you learn from and engage with your peers. Often, students come up with the most creative approaches to tackling new information….and this assignment will tap into that.
Part 1 – You should respond to the following instructor prompt:
Module 6 prompt – This week we are turning our attention to being able to identify tissue based on physical appearance. This is an incredibly complex task that asks you to compile functional knowledge about the way cells and tissues perform certain actions with the observations you are able make in micrographs. In order to help provide some context to the structure/function relationship we are going to think creatively about how we can describe the functionality of a cell or tissue, using common language.
This assignment asks you to start applying more complex distinguishing details about the components that make up each of the organ systems. The sheer amount of content that you will be trying to master over the next three weeks is daunting. In this assignment you will practice a technique that reinforces the rote memorization you may be facing, the practice of making analogies. You should describe a tissue or specialized cell type from the nervous, skeletal or muscular system in the form of an analogy. The tissue or cell type that you select should ONLY be found within one organ system. You should describe the function and the morphology of the cells/tissues involved, but do so in the context of the analogy you’ve chosen. Provide enough detail that your partners can guess which structure you are talking about.
