importance of a composite and dynamic scholarly framework for the field (of African Studies).
SECTION B
2) Discuss the unique features of indigenous African religions (that is, ‘traditionalism’), with
emphasis on the concept of God, role of spirits, ancestors, rituals, sacrifice and prayers.
3) Describe the inherent issues in studying ‘African literature’, noting distinctions between
‘traditional’ and ‘modern’ African literatures, then, explore their prevalent themes and features.
4) Identify the origins of colonialism in Africa, the principal colonial policies or ‘models’, their
complex political, historical, cultural, social and economic features, and analyze their legacies.
5) Give an overview of obstacles to Africa’s sustained economic advancement, and discuss the
socioeconomic, political, institutional and cultural strategies, so far, crucial to overcoming them.
