One has to agree that one of the things that the American environment is characterized with is its leaning towards agriculture and all this had a beginning and forces that helped in this path of progress. In this light, the paper is going to specifically look at Thomas Jefferson’s ideal of the American farmer when it comes to his agrarian ideologies and the social and political effects of these ideals to America.
To break it down further on how the paper is going to attain this, first it will highlight on who Thomas Jefferson was and put to context his life as a farmer. Next it will go ahead to narrow down on his ideologies and the methods that he used to effect the ideologies. Having set the foundation, it will then look at the effect that he had on the life of the American farmer. The paper will then go ahead and look at the larger social and political consequences of Jefferson’s efforts.
To attain this, I will use books written by historians, primary sources that contain information about Jefferson and his agrarian ideology. I will look at some of his speeches, notes, debates, laws, letters and interviews to get a firsthand experience of his ideology. From these sources, I will try and read through various academic journals in a bid to have the most reliable pieces of information. I intend to get these sources from online libraries and historical sites which are reliable. In the end, one will be able to have a clue about Thomas Jefferson’s legacy for the primacy of agriculture, political vision and the ways that he used to influence America’s agriculture as driven by the small farmers.
