Basic context for this assignment:
So far in the module we have focused on understanding an ongoing conversation around the concepts of effort, attitudes, and success. In Carol S. Dweck’s article, “” Dweck describes a way of thinking which she believes has created students with low self-confidence and limited perseverance. Similarly many of you have discussed the importance of learning from mistakes (and making them!) when it comes to creating something.
So far you have had a chance to summarize and discuss these ideas , even making claims about their impact or implications. You have been extending the article into an informal conversation with our class. (You should remember this term conversation, which claims that all academic writing is a back-and-forth conversation with certain expectations and norms also known as conventions.) For this assignment, you get a chance to fully present your ideas by using those conventions, officially entering the academic conversation with Dweck, the class, and other researchers.
Instructions for this Assignment:
Using what you’ve learned in Unit 1, plan, organize, and draft an essay that summarizes, illustrates, and responds to Dweck.
As an essay, this document should have all the appropriate parts, formatting, and tone.
