In recent years, there has been a proliferation of trade agreements between countries. Explore the benefits/drawbacks of increased economic integration by completing the following
A: From the business press, find two articles that discuss a proposed, new, or revised trade agreement. Both articles should address the same trade agreement. Neither article should be more than five years old, and at least one article has to be less than one year old. Try to find articles that discuss different perspectives (i.e. – pro and con) of the agreement.
B: Using information learned in Chapters 5-8 of the text, discuss the following four points (each point will be a section of your paper):
1: Countries: Identify the countries involved and the level of integration (free trade area, customs union, common market, etc.).
2:Main Issues: Identify the main issues (as identified in the articles) associated with the development or revision of the trade agreement.
3: Implications of Issues: Identify two or three countries involved in the trade agreement as discussed in the articles. Pick one of the issues found in the articles and discuss the implications of the issues from each country’s perspective. Draw on information about trade theory, trade tools, FDI, etc.
4: Impact on Foreign Exchange Markets: Discuss the impact on the foreign exchange markets for the countries involved (use the same countries discussed in #3 above)
C: Create a reference list in proper APA format. The last page of the paper should be an APA-style reference page. (See the Syllabus under Textbook and Resources for helpful guidance and a website on how to format citations using A.P.A. citation style.)
You should use 12 point Times New Roman font, 1” margins, and double-spaced paragraphs. Your citation of articles (and any other sources you use, including the Hill text) needs to be in proper APA format in the paper. Make sure to use section headers to indicate the different parts of the paper: Parts 1-4 (Countries, Main Issues, Implications of Issues, and Impact on Foreign Exchange Markets) and the Reference List.
