Learning Goal: I’m working on a english question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn. Use information already used in class to write an essay on ‘race as a social construct’. Take the approach that is most meaningful to you. Use this opportunity to formulate your own thoughts and opinions. Is race really socially constructed? How do you arrive at that conclusion? This is the first of two thinkpiece questions this term. The purpose is to allow you to consolidate your knowledge and ideas on an important topic. It is called ‘thinkpiece’ because the goal is to allow you to use the information provided so far in the course to formulate your own assessment of the topic. There is no correct assessment; however, I do want you to demonstrate that you have understood the major materials on this topic and that you can think critically about them.There is no specified length (I can read as much as you can write!) However, you should consider reviewing/summarizing the main materials on the subject before formulating your own analysis. In light of this, one probably can’t do a good job in less that 2-3 pages.
