2. Explain what factors have led to this individual being wrongfully convicted.
Some of the common causes of wrongful convictions include eyewitness misidentification, government misconduct, false confessions/admissions, incentivized informants or the use of improper forensic science.
3. Explain what factors led to their exoneration.
Some possible factors that lead to exonerations include DNA evidence that proves the individual is innocent, exposure of government misconduct or a confession from the real offender.
4. You should also discuss what the criminal justice system (i.e. the police, courts, etc.) can do in the future to minimize the possibility of an innocent person being wrongfully convicted for the reason(s) why this exonerated person was convicted.
For example, if one of the factors that led to a wrongful conviction in the case you chose is the use of /improper forensic science, what can be done in the future to minimize another individual for being wrongfully convicted due to improper forensic science?
The Innocence Project website is an excellent source for this part of the assignment.
