Our textbook has a section at the end of each short story titled “Related Works.” The point of this section is for students to use their critical thinking skills and make connections between different literary works. With that in mind, construct an argument that examines how “The Cask of Amontillado” and “A Rose for Emily” are related and how “Once Upon a Time” and “Water Names” are related to each other. You could also choose any two stories that work for you.
Many 1A instructors use the rhetorical mode known as compare and contrast. That being said, if you are comfortable with this particular type of essay, you have the option to choose any two characters from anything we have read this semester and point out their similarities and differences. Make sure you point out an equal number of similarities and differences, and make sure to provide direct quotations to support your points.
