First, thank you for your help! This mini literature review consists of reviewing two different medical conditions of our choice( please use about 4 sources for each). Please use one single spaced page (approximately 550 words) to provide information on Pediatric Alopecia Areata and the other single spaced page (approximately 550) on Aphasia. These are two separate essays. Please use instructor’s expectations as a rubric to guide you. As a side note, I’m a career changer and currently completing pre reqs for medical school. Due to last minute scheduled shifts at the hospital I’m not able to complete my short essay writing assignments. Please see further info below and it is important to follow the rubric given closely. For each of the two writing assignments, you should write a short essay, no more than one single-spaced page (not including references) in length, which would serve as an “information sheet” that you might make available to patients and their families. This should provide general information about their condition. In doing so, think back to individuals you have encountered during your shadowing, volunteering, and other service activities, and pick a disease entity about which you wish to learn more as the basis for your assignment. For each of the two assignments, you should pick one disease related to/involving any of the following categories: cardiovascular, lymphatic/immune, respiratory, urinary, nervous, or musculoskeletal. Do not do both assignments within the same category.
The maximum value for each assignment will be 10 points, earned for including the following aspects and based upon the following rubric:
Name the condition, including both technical and/or eponymous names to describe it, and if appropriate, provide any interesting historical notes of interest. (1 point)
Explain what is known about the range of symptoms associated with this disease entity. Include any information about typical age of onset, gender differences, or other pertinent information where appropriate. (2 points)
Explain what is known about the underlying mechanism of disease, including genetic, metabolic, infectious, immunological, or other pertinent basic biological aspects for which there is information. (3 points)
Describe the range of treatments that may be available to manage this condition. (3 points)
Cite references (including journal articles, websites, or other sources) that you have used in the body of your essay, and include these in a bibliography at the end of your essay. The bibliography does not count towards your full-page essay. (1 point)
