• Watch ‘The Future of Work – A Place of Belonging ()’ (Burnette 2021) Tedx Talk
As you read and watch, think about how these three sources can help you address the topic: Explain how managers can constructively address issues of diversity in the workforce **NOTE: These 3 sources here are COMPULSORY SOURCES that you have to include in your Assignment 1 essay response
Step 2: Find at least three credible peer-reviewed academic journal articles IN ADDITION to the resources in Step 1
Now that you have noted how these three resources help you address the writing prompt, what other peer-reviewed academic journal articles can you find to help you build on those arguments?
When searching for other journal articles consider the following key points/questions:
◦ Why is diversity management important for contemporary organizations?
◦ What are the challenges/problems faced by managers in managing your chosen aspect of diversity?
◦ How can managers overcome these challenges?
◦ What practices/strategies can managers implement to effectively manage your chosen aspect of diversity?
◦ What management theories can be used or modified to help managers to effectively manage your chosen aspect of diversity?
Select between 3 – 6 peer-reviewed academic journal articles you wish to include. Take notes or mark up the articles to identify the key points. Next, analyse the key points in relation to the topic question. Use these key points to support your approach to answering the topic question in the 3 body paragraphs of your essay.

Step 3: Write your persuasive essays (https://emedia.rmit.edu.au/learninglab/content/writing-skills)
NOTE: Do not use the first person in the essay but write it in the THIRD PERSON (e.g., The author……)
Word limit 1000 words (+/- 10%) (excluding reference list but includes in-text references). The document must be typed in MS Word using an appropriate font, e.g. Times New Roman, Helvetica, Cambria or Arial (size 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing and left aligned).
The document must include:
1. An introduction (200 words):
Briefly introduce the purpose of this essay. Within the introductory paragraph you will need to foreground or signpost key topics you will address in the body paragraphs for this essay.
2. Four Body paragraphs (4 x 150 words each):
Remember to support your argument with in-text references (counts towards overall word limit)
3. A Conclusion (200 words):
The conclusion must briefly summarise the key points in the body paragraphs.
4. Reference List:
Include a separate reference list formatted according to RMIT Harvard style of referencing (https://www.lib.rmit.edu.au/easy-cite/).
Step 4: Referencing guidelines
• Your reference list should include the two compulsory articles from the reading list, the Burnette (2021) TED Talk AND a minimum of three other peer-reviewed academic journal articles.
• You must refer to between 3 – 6 other credible, peer-reviewed academic journal articles (https://rmit.libguides.com/businessmanagement) that have been published within the last 10 years (i.e., 2012 – 2022) that will enable you to undertake a synthesis and analysis of contemporary management work. Work with your tutor or a librarian (here (https://www.rmit.edu.au/library/help/ask-the-library)) if you are not sure how to locate academic sources and refer to the video on academic sources found on Canvas.
