Prompt: This week, we have continued our readings in regionalism (and realism, by suit), and have taken on intersectional oppressions as well as the racial issues that we saw brought forth in Twain’s writing last week. Intersectionality is, essentially, the interchange between different markers of oppression (for example, a woman of color in the US experiences oppression differently than a white woman does. While they have the shared oppression of being a woman, they have very different racial experiences). Using your readings from this week, analyze how institutions within society (religion, education, government, etc) have marginalized people within different sectors of society.
