Increasingly, people are using online resources to learn about and participate in religious activities. This paper asks you to explore and explain the resources and activities available for one of the three Abrahamic faiths.
Word Limit: 1000 words (A good paper should be between 800 and 1000 words)
Be sure to address these points:
• Focus on one of the 3 Abrahamic faiths: either Judaism, Islam, or Christianity.
– Be sure to explain the group you choose more precisely. For example, you may specifically focus on Presbyterian or Catholic; Sunni or Shi’a; Orthodox or traditional, etc.
Using online research only, explore and explain each of these areas:
• online resources for learning more about that religion/educational resources
• ways to engage in rituals online
• ways that people may communicate with others within that faith
online •communities of believers
• video/streaming resources created by religious specialists or authorities within that faith
• any other relevant areas or categories you might find, in addition to these
Formulate a strong thesis statement and use essay form.
• The thesis statement should be clearly presented in one or two sentences in your introductory paragraph.
• Divide groups of related ideas into coherent paragraphs.
• Organize and edit your work.
• Write a strong conclusion paragraph in which you summarize what you have found and explain what you think about it.
Problems with practicing this faith online • Are there any specific beliefs or rules within this faith that might promote or constrain the way its believers may engage in online practices? If so, please explain.
• Can you find any information about compromises religious authorities within this faith have made to accommodate the Covid pandemic?
Trends and the Future
• What evidence can you find about the ways in which the online practices you describe might continue into the future? – Is the recent flurry of online faith practices likely to continue beyond the pandemic? Why or why not?
– Are there things people will likely continue to do online rather than in-person? Which ones? Why?
– Has online religious practice increased the number of believers? If so, why? If not, why not? What is your evidence?
• You may also offer your opinion based on the evidence you find, but this should comprise only a small part of your paper. Are there any websites, resources, or practices that you think are particularly beneficial or useful? Why?

• Do not simply list your sources at the end. You must cite them wherever you use them within the paper.
