Directions: For this unit you will be submitting a written summary of the Medieval period for a test score. The paragraph will be graded on completeness, correct information, grammar (complete sentences, word choice), organization and thoughtfulness in the conclusion.

Step-by-Step Instructions: In the first paragraph explain the Germanic tribes, who they were (focus on the main four), what they did, where they came from and where they eventually settled. What religion did they all eventually accept? When writing this information, make sure to use dates of major events when possible.
In the second paragraph, you will describe Charlemagne’s accomplishments. Where he ruled, when he ruled and what major event happened to him that connected him to the Catholic Church. Also, answer the question of what happened to his empire after he died.
In the third paragraph, describe the structure of Medieval society. Who’s on top, who’s in the middle and who’s at the bottom. Name each group. What powers does each group have? What are they looking to get? What do they have to do to get what they want? Also describe the manor system, what was it? You should have at least three sentences to describe the manor system alone.
In the fourth paragraph, describe Catholic Church and its power during the Medieval Period. What was the Catholic Church like in this period? Why was it so powerful? (give at least 4 reasons) Who is the leader of the Catholic Church? What is the Church structure like? (who is at the top-middle-bottom) Give at least two methods the Church used to enforce its power.
In the final paragraph, give your thoughts in this unit on the following questions: 1- What was my favorite section of the unit and why? 2-What topic from this unit would I like to know more about and why? 3- What would be a good way to review this unit for the SOL and why?
