Step 1: Select one work of art from the pdf in this module to use as the focus of your paper.
Step 2: Study the image carefully and determine three specific visual elements or principles of design to consider. These will form the three body paragraphs of your paper.
Step 3: Please describe the three formal aspects of this work in detail. You should consider any of the visual elements and/or principles of design that you deem significant in this examination (i.e. line, shape, color, light/shadow, texture, pattern, use of space, balance, emphasis, scale, movement, rhythm, composition, perspective). Each one of the three elements or principles should be significant enough in this work to make up one paragraph. Please be as specific as possible, and in addition to the formal elements of each work of art you should also identify the medium (material) of the work, and the subject matter if it can be determined.
Your paper should be 250-400 words (with one inch margins and type no larger than 12point font). You must clearly specify the name of artist, title, medium and date of the work of art that you select to discuss.
Other considerations: Your paper should follow MLA style guidelines (see O’Kelly Library website for style guides if you need a review; a model paper is also included in this module). This assignment does not require additional research. What you write must be in your own words entirely; there should be no quotations or other references. This assignment focuses on your examination of one specific work of art.
